Healthy Living Programme

A Healthy Living Programme organised by Mayo Sports Partnership was hosted by Moyne College on Tuesday 14th February.

The programme targets second year students and comprises a Drugs and Alcohol Awareness Workshop facilitated by Gillian Conway, Western Region Drugs Task Force; Team Building facilitated by Jarlath McHale, Outdoor Educator; Physical Activities led by Deirdre Donnelly MSP and a Mental Health and Physical Activity Workshop presented by TJ Coleman, Psychotherapist.

Through activity and discussion, the students considered their life choices and responsibilities in contributing to a happy, healthy lifestyle now, and into the future. Cora Staunton (Mayo Traveller Support Group) in speaking with the students, outlined her own life choices with regard to sport and stressed the importance remaining active. For their part, the students were unanimous in their view that the day was both fun and informative. Moyne College wishes to acknowledge the role of Ann Ronayne, MSP Sports Development Worker, together with Ballina Sports Network in organising the event; the role of Siobhán Carroll-Webb, Mayo North East LEADER Partnership Company in providing funding; and the support of the staff of Ballina Community Sports Centre on the day.
