Our goal in the Mathematics Department in Moyne College is to enable students to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for their future lives. Students are challenged to develop skills in analysing, interpreting and presenting mathematical information and in applying their mathematical knowledge and skills to solve familiar and unfamiliar problems.
We run activities in our school during “Maths Week” which promotes ‘Maths for All’ by encouraging all students to work harder at maths thus creating an awareness of the importance of maths in society. The events of “Maths Week” are designed to present maths as interesting, challenging, rewarding and even fun!
We have a whole school approach in place to target numeracy levels for all our students. Numeracy is incorporated into all classes, where possible, with a strong focus on cross-curricular links.
Interactive Whiteboards are used in many mathematical classes in Moyne College. The use of the interactive whiteboards improves the quality of the teaching and learning processes by enhancing levels of interaction, communication and collaboration.
We maintain high academic and behavioural expectations and make every effort to direct students to realise their full potential.
