Notice to parents - 3rd April 2020
3rd April 2020
I hope that you and your families are still managing to stay safe in these very difficult times of uncertainty. Thankfully all of the staff here are still managing to stay safe also.
Parents who have submitted an email address have been issued with a Record of Work assigned for the period 23rd March – 3rd April 2020. . If any parent wishes a copy of this then please feel free to contact the school and a record of work assigned will be posted to you.
It is essential that your son/daughter keeps up with the work assigned as best they can as we will be returning to school one day and we want avoid students having to play catch up. In that regard, can I ask that you encourage them to log into their 365 Accounts regularly on a daily basis. Anyone experiencing difficulties with their accounts or any other IT issues please contact the school via email and we will see if there is anything that we can do to assist. Can I also ask that you remind your son/daughter to log on and submit work/messages to staff at appropriate times. It is not advisable that students submit work or seek assistance from staff late at night and they really shouldn't be messaging after 4.30pm.
I'm sure you have heard in your homes about the programme students are engaging in for lessons, called TEAMS. This programme is for teaching and learning only. It is not a chat room for students to engage in conversations with each other. I appreciate that students are missing the physical contact they had in school with their friends, the banter that they shared and the opportunity to have a 'chat', but I must insist that TEAMS is not the platform for students to engage in banter of any description. If any student is engaging in this kind of inappropriate behaviour online through the platform used for teaching & learning then unfortunately their 365 Account will have to be suspended for a time. I'm sure that I can guarantee your support regarding this.
Unfortunately there has still been no decisions made regarding the State Examinations, except to say we are planning that they will proceed. The only decisions made so far is in relation to the Orals, Music and Home Economics Practical Exams and certain deadlines being extended.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family members a safe and relaxing Easter and I will be in touch with you after the Easter break, unless that is circumstances change with Covid - 19.
Once again please feel free to contact the school with any issues/concerns you may have.
Thank you all for your support
