Senior Boys Soccer team
The senior soccer team under the management of Mr MacHale had a positive season and were unlucky to not make the semi-finals of the league. In all the team played three games, winning one game at home to Castlebar, losing away to Enniscrone and played out a draw with St Joseph’s Sligo.
Following a hard year of after school training the team were disappointed not to make it to the finals. The boys also entered two teams into a schools soccer blitz in Ballina. Both teams topped their groups with a number of convincing wins and reached their respective semi-finals. Having put in a valiant effort in both ties Moyne College were unlucky to lose on a score line of 3-2 in both matches.
The junior boys’ soccer team did not have the best of fortunes in 2013/14. After a great start with a draw away to St Brendan’s of Belmullet in inclement conditions, the team lost the final two games of the group. It was a valuable experience however and preparation has already begun for next year’s tournament.
Senior and junior girls both took part in soccer blitz’s held earlier in the year. The girls had been training in the weeks leading up to the competitions and both squads performed extremely well. The junior girls were particularly unlucky not to win any silverware in the Bangor tournament
